Oregon Senator Sollman and Hillsboro Mayor Elect Beach Visit CST

A year-end gift of sorts, Cascade Systems Technology was honored to host Oregon Senator Sollman and Hillsboro Mayor elect Beach Pace this week!

During their visit and facility tour, we discussed the importance of the U.S. and Oregon-based semiconductor supply chain supporting and enabling semiconductors that are, in turn, critical to America’s technology future, national security, and economic prosperity. CST’s printed circuit board and system assemblies are a prime example, as are the metal and plastic enclosures we often rely on, fabricated by Metafab, another local tech firm whose CEO and President, Tony Varela, also attended.

Alluding to recent Federal investments in onshoring semiconductors, such as the Chip & Science Act, CST’s CEO, Shantanu Gupta said: “While onshoring chips provides a good tail wind, boosting the semiconductor manufacturing segment is not enough: We have to think through and provide a boost to the entire semiconductor supply chain to ensure a secure, self-reliant technology of the future that is manufactured state-side.”

Happily – and as demonstrated by their visit with us — local government officials like Senator Sollman and Mayor Elect Pace understand this and how such broader investments will drive new job creation opportunities for Oregon and beyond.
