National Defense University (NDU) pays CST a visit

Cascade Systems Technology (CST) was honored to recently host eighteen members and staff of the Eisenhower School of the National Defense University (NDU) based in Washington, DC., for a visit to our manufacturing facility as part of their tour of Oregon’s “Silicon Forest.”

We want to thank the Biz Oregon team of Jeff Hampton, SHANNON CARNEY, and Jenna Cusimano, MPA for selecting CS as one of the key visits for the NDU cohort during their multi-day tour in Oregon. We also thank Dradin Kreft of the Pacific NW Defense Council (PNDC) for attending.

As our visitors are currently focused on the NDU Semiconductor and Microelectronics program, the group was eager to tour our advanced SMT manufacturing facility and see the actual process of assembling advanced microelectronics into functional printed circuit boards. Witnessing the process up close fueled further curiosity about how this rapidly advancing technology will shape the future of our defense industry.

Their enthusiasm was evident with excellent questions on subjects such as high-density manufacturing, using AI in manufacturing, and building a resilient US-based supply chain for our military and aerospace industries. Cascade Systems believes a robust domestic-based microelectronics supply chain is critical to our national security.

As large tariffs are now being applied to products being made overseas, we expect a substantial increase in onshoring of manufacturing, including printed circuit board assembly. As a domestic manufacturing company in Oregon, Cascade Systems is well-positioned for this growth.
