Prep/Insert Assembler

This position is responsible for the overall preparation for kits for circuit boards for all projects. All work submitted to QC must be in accordance with IPC-610 Class 2 standards unless otherwise specified.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

o Follow weekly build/ship and production schedule for the department via immediate supervisor/team lead and inform immediate supervisor/team lead if schedule will not be met.

o Ensure receipt of proper documentation prior to starting work.

o Audits the kit sent from the stockroom to ensure the kit includes the right customer approved components and count. Audit includes reviewing checklist, BOM, product information sheet to see if there are any changes from previous builds or change in instructions or information for New Product In (NPI).

o Fully prep the kit per instructions and set aside in designated holding area.

o Review NPI product build assembly drawings for questionable information and review areas of concern with supervisor/lead prior to prepping kit.

o Upon receiving the circuit boards review the doc pack to ascertain of masking is needed or if special prepping for a specific component is required.

o Insert components for build into circuit boards with emphasis on accuracy and understanding of proper insertion of components and correct polarities.

o Communicate any quality issues to immediate supervisor/team lead within fifteen (15) minutes of finding.

o Redline and communicate any documentation discrepancies to immediate supervisor.

o Only work on prep/insert equipment for which training and/or certification has been completed.

o Ensure your production area is clean and maintained.

o Other duties as assigned.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

 

o Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

o Act as a member of the Prep/Insert team and attend and actively participate in production shipping white board meetings and other meetings as requested.

o Follow chemical, MSDS and ESD procedures.

o Must follow all safety requirements, promptly report safety accidents and illnesses, and report potential safety issues, concerns and situations to supervisor.

o Stay abreast of current industry technology, trends and knowledge and provide to the Company by sharing this information with the Company.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

o High school diploma or equivalent.

o Two (2) years established work experience, preferably in a manufacturing or computer component environment.

o Good communication skills and ability to establish and maintain positive and effective communications with other team members, customers, vendors and other third parties.

o Good oral communication skills.

o Must be able to read and comprehend assembly and build instructions and other written material.

o Excellent attention to detail.

o Must be able to learn and work with LEAN working methods and processes.

o Ability to identify all components and component part numbers.

o Must comply with standards set by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and be free from federal warrants and must not be on any Federal watch list.

o Ability to learn and follow ISO 9000 process.

o Familiar with and ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn and utilize other Company software.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

• Frequent standing, walking and sitting.

• Occasional stooping or crouching.

• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.

• Frequent use of hands.

• Frequent repetitive motion tasks.

• Must be able to work at computer or workstation for extended periods of time.

• Must be able to see and accurately delineate between various colors.

• Ability to see and identify very small computer components.

• Work in hot/cold environments.

• Work in a fast paced/quick turn environment.
